Emily was born & raised on the North Shore of Massachusetts and started cooking as soon as she could hold a knife, spending most nights at her mother’s side as sous chef.  Her first foray into the food industry was helping manage a farm in Ipswich (shout out to Russell Orchards!) where she split her time evenly between harvesting crops in the field, offering tastes of fruit wine & housemade cider and running the bakery & store.  She then found herself pulled to travel, and after eating her way through most of Italy and Southern France, she landed in California in 2012!  Gather offered Emily her first home in the Bay Area food scene, and after three wonderful years there she joined Charlie’s team, first at Penrose and now at Boot & Shoe!  When she’s off the clock, you can find her grooving at Hipline, enjoying a Oaxacan Standoff at Prizefighter, or on the hunt for the next novel to sink her teeth into.
